Baconfest is a town-wide community collaboration celebrating EVERYTHING BACON & BIKES in a family-friendly atmosphere. The free event was originally a small gathering of 400 motorcycle enthusiasts, but has grown rapidly and draws over 35,000+ people in 8 short years. Rapid growth has dictated a partially paid event, to assist with event sustainability. The annual event draws motorcycle and bacon enthusiasts, spectators and tourists to create a unique, positive tourism experience and increases both tourism visitation and visitor spending to Lucan and its surrounding communities. Motorcycle riders believe time spent on their bike is valuable and they aren't afraid to spend more money at their destination for enjoyment.Baconfest is a unique platform to draw awareness of Lucan, and highlight it as a tourist destination in Southwestern Ontario. Baconfest is quickly growing to be one of Southwestern Ontario's largest, unique single-day draw attractions for rural Ontario.
Baconfest’s mission is to organize, host and execute Ontario’s best family-friendly rural festival, while contributing economies to Lucan, surrounding communities and the Province of Ontario. Baconfest offers a platform to highlight our community, its artists, businesses and organizations while regenerating opportunity for Lucan and the surrounding communities. All Baconfest practices strategically embrace the goals of; Sustainability; Growth and Community Showcase.
Baconfest is a community collaboration and consists of a steering committee which pulls from several organizations bringing a variety of experience, expertise and knowledge to the table. Our steering committee has successfully executed four annual Baconfest events, which accommodated unprecedented growth. As we prepare for the fifth annual Baconfest, we embrace continuous improvement methodology pulling from the committee experience and outsourcing when necessary.
